These three cats were living outside in the cold until December 13, 2020, the day we rescued them. Your donations made it possible for us to take them into a safe, warm place!
We’re calling them “The Granby Trio” for now. They’ve never known a home and so they are very, very scared. They do not want to be touched and are hiding 24/7 - so we need to be patient while they depressurize and learn to trust.
Based on observations from someone in the Granby, CT neighborhood they were found in, we think the small kitten may be around 10 weeks old and the two larger cats may be 10 months old.
They have a journey ahead, but we see such potential in each of them. Follow their progress...
The Journey Begins...
December 16, 2020 - It’s been just under 3 days since we rescued the cats from the cold. They are each still in the depressurizing stage.
No names yet until we see their true personalities shine - so we’ve given them nicknames.
January 1, 2021 - A New Years surprise! We received word that Kitten's sibling was finally trapped. So today The Granby Trio has become The Granby Quartet!
This little girl is very scared right now so we are giving her time to decompress.
"Kitten"
January 26, 2021 - The Granby Quartet have all been spending some quality time in foster care and have gotten clean bills of health from the vet! We are ready for the next step of trying to find them "forever homes".
December 16, 2020
This is the youngest of The Granby Trio - we're calling her “kitten” or “puff” for now. Kitten is still afraid of us, but not like the other two cats. She’s bored and wants to play - she cries out sometimes but when we come into the room she runs and hides. She’s curious though and peeks her head out. When you extend a toy to her, she will engage but it can take some time.
"Puff"
December 16, 2020
The second cat is “Hidey” because that’s all he does - hides. We actually had to remove his cat bed for now because he will lay under it 24/7, like a turtle hiding in it’s shell. We have a soft towel in there for comfort but can’t put anything fluffier/bigger because we don’t want to reinforce the hiding. Hidey is shut down as well. He doesn’t move much when we are in the room. We wish we could tell Hidey how much we want to help.
"Stinkeye"
December 16, 2020
This is the third cat. Whenever we walk into the room, she gives us a stare. So we’re calling her “Stinkeye” for now. Stinkeye pretty much keeps her eyes on you the entire time. She gobbles her food up right away when fed. She will lay on top of her cat bed the whole day and not move much at all. I’ve never seen her stand up but I know she does when we aren’t around. Stinkeye has shown some interest when we are waving a string toy around but she doesn’t dare move. She’s still shut down emotionally. It will take time to earn her trust.
"Miss Meatball"
January 1, 2021
This is our surprise fourth cat - Kitten's sister was finally trapped. We're giving her some space right now, as she is very frightened. When she curls up to hide from us, she looks like a little meatball. So, we're calling her "Miss Meatball" for now.
